Before you start
- Your Amazon email and password. Use the Amazon account you want orders bought from.
- Amazon open in another tab, signed in. You’ll go back and forth between Amazon and AslDrop a few times.
- About ten minutes. Most of it is waiting for Amazon’s pages.
Get the setup key from Amazon
When Amazon asks for a 6-digit code at sign-in, Auto Order makes that code itself, the same way an authenticator app on your phone does. To do that it needs the setup key Amazon gives you when you add an authenticator app.
- On Amazon, open Account & Lists → Your Account → Login & security.
- Next to 2-Step Verification, press Turn on, or Edit if it’s already on.
- Choose Authenticator App. If 2-step verification is already on, choose Add new app.
- Amazon shows a QR code. Click Can’t scan the barcode? under it, and Amazon shows the setup key.
- Copy the whole key. Leave this Amazon page open — you’ll come back to it to type a code.
| What you see | Is it the setup key? |
|---|---|
| JBSW Y3DP EHPK 3PXP 4K7Q … | Yes. Letters and numbers in groups of four. Copy all of it. |
| +1 555 014 2290 | No, that’s a phone number. |
| 482913 | No, that’s a one-time code. It changes every 30 seconds. |
Connect it in AslDrop
- In AslDrop, open Fulfillment and press + Connect Amazon account.
- Under Sign-in details, fill in the Amazon email, the account type and the password.
- Paste the key into Authenticator setup key. Spaces are fine.
- Choose which stores and buyer states this account buys for. The payment card and daily limits are optional.
- Tick I understand and accept the risk and press Connect account.
Your password and the key are stored encrypted and never shown again, not even to you. To change one, type a new one and save.
Finish on Amazon
After you press Connect account, AslDrop opens the account’s page. At the top, Finish on Amazon shows a 6-digit code made from your key.
If Amazon is asking for a code to turn on 2-step verification, enter this one.
- Go back to the Amazon tab, type that code where Amazon asks for it, and confirm.
- If Amazon asks for a backup method, such as a phone number, add one.
That’s it: Amazon now accepts the codes AslDrop makes for this account.
Need a code yourself later, for example to sign in on your own computer? The account card on Fulfillment has a copy button next to 2FA set, and the account page has Show code under Sign-in details.
Make the app your preferred method
Amazon can send sign-in codes in more than one way. If it texts the code to your phone or asks you to approve the sign-in on your phone, Auto Order can’t answer, and the account stops with Sign-in needs attention.
- On Amazon, open Login & security → 2-Step Verification → Edit.
- Make Authenticator App the preferred method. Your phone number can stay as a backup.
Set up the passkey
Amazon is moving sign-in from passwords to passkeys. When Amazon asks this account for a passkey, Auto Order needs one of its own. AslDrop adds it for you, the same way you would add a new phone.
- Wait until the account shows Ready on Fulfillment.
- Open the account and open Passkey.
- Press Set up passkey. It takes about a minute, and you can leave the page.
Amazon is moving sign-in from passwords to passkeys. We can add a passkey for AslDrop to this Amazon account, the same way you would add a new phone, and Auto Order then signs in with it. Your own passkeys and your password stay as they are.
Takes about a minute. Amazon may email you that a new passkey was added.
- Your own passkeys and your password stay as they are.
- Amazon may email you that a new passkey was added. That’s this one.
- You’ll see it on Amazon under Login & security → Passkey. If you remove it there, press Set up again in AslDrop.
If something goes wrong
The account card on Fulfillment tells you what needs doing. The usual ones:
| What it says | What to do |
|---|---|
| 2FA not set | Paste the setup key under Sign-in details and save. |
| No passkey | Open the account and press Set up passkey. |
| Password needed | Amazon didn’t accept the saved password. Type the current one under Sign-in details and save. |
| Sign-in needs attention | Check the password and the setup key under Sign-in details. A key with a letter missing, or codes going to your phone instead of the app, are the usual causes. |
| Passkey required | Amazon asked for a passkey before one was set up. Email support@asldrop.com. |
| Setup needed | The account wasn’t used for 30 days. Press Set up again. |
| Paused by Amazon | Amazon put a temporary hold on ordering. Orders continue after it ends. |
